Jorgy’s Shorts is a collection of 16 short stories that turns everyday life — a garden dispute, a swimming pool rivalry, a rain-soaked film set, a doorbell ringing at the wrong moment — into something worth thinking about twice.

Each story follows Jorgy, an observer with a gift for talking his way out of trouble and a habit of noticing more than he lets on, through one small, true-to-life episode. But every story comes with two companions: a classical music recommendation that captures its mood and structure, and a short philosophical reading that asks what the story actually means.

Across the collection, sixteen thinkers — Aristotle, Simone de Beauvoir, Montaigne, Hume, Nietzsche, Epicurus, Spinoza, Seneca, Epictetus, Bergson, Hannah Arendt, Kant, Socrates, Schopenhauer, Camus, and Wittgenstein — are each paired with a story and a piece of music, from Schubert’s Trout Quintet and Bach’s Goldberg Variations to Shostakovich, Ravel, and Satie.
